Fitting the first classroom block with windows and door frames was very expensive as well as costly due to transporting them. The Kisarawe school building team evaluated and advised that it would be cheaper to make such doors and windows by the school, than buying them. And as the school construction is still happening, we are constantly looking at how we can keep construction costs low and affordable but endurable.

Also making the metallic windows and doors ourselves from scratch would not only lower the costs, but will also allow the school to teach students how to do welding and thus adding another course. Plus it will be a new income generating business for the school to make doors and windows for the school buildings and take on orders from the ever growing demand for such in the community. This will provide the school with another income and also help students to practice on hand, while producing products that are fit for sale.

For this reason we have decided that we bought a welding machine. This is the first step to being able to make our own doors and windows for the next block. In order for us to do this, we will also be need to buy a generator to provide electricity to run the welding machine.
