Grasslands Secondary School
What good news we received on 30 December; in the afternoon Simon received a phone call, Mark Mwarabu, our project manager in Kisarawe was just on his way from Dodoma, the capital, back to Dar es Salaam, with the coveted piece of paper: The document on which the school is registered and with the number! How wonderful to end 2021 like this!y There are so many people who have worked on this and where weekly, sometimes daily phone calls back and forth to arrange the next steps! Thank you to everyone who has prayed and given, we are so grateful! As you know, we find it important to work together and believe that God brings us together and uses everyone's gifts in this project (and everywhere we work together as Brothers and Sisters).
20 January: The school opened this week and slowly students are coming in for class 1 and 2, old and new. We are still working hard to advertise the school and register students. And we expect that in the coming weeks there will certainly be more students, for which we are grateful.
22 January: another phone call from Mark: "Simon there are three students who have signed up as boarding students" ... only the house which we temporarily want to use as a hostel, is not quite finished (until we have received the full amount together with Wilde Ganzen to build a real hostel) ... this will not happen in the 'Western world', but in the 3rd world / Africa everything is possible ... but then it can also be solved quickly, which is what happened.
School community road and electricity
Now that the school is running, the community is excited and together with the community leaders, the village agreed to contribute some funds to open up the road from the main road up to the school property for easy movement of students and guests to the school. They have offered some of their land to be used for the road and also allow electricity poles from the national grid to pass through for both the community and the school. The school is very grateful for this relationship that we are receiving from thecommunity.
Prayers and more patience is still needed that the community continues to embrace education.
